This installation was constructed in the ceiling of an old storage barn, transformed into an exhibition space, at Roma Kungsgård on the island of Gotland. The huge aluminum rings with metal bars, which support the structure reminded me of being "in the belly of the whale". I enlarged a human spine and traced the line of a person laying on their stomach with bundles of glass thread. The highest point reaches 420 cm and the lowest about 180 cm.
The installation was hung with wet raw hide from goat, which dried and firmly squeezed the glass in place.
As the title alludes to
the bundled glass threads of the "naked" spine, visualize the exposed spinal nerves of the back. As the glass literally draws the back as a line I regard this artwork as a three dimensional drawing.
